Small MIDI light instrument

Listening to music is cool, but “seeing” your music adds extra value !

This is a small experiment with a Teensy++ board running as a MIDI device. It controls three RGB LEDs. Each LED’s component is controlled by PWM.

The code is quite simple and features support for MIDI messages NOTEON, NOTEOFF, POLYPRESSURE and AFTERTOUCH for each LED (and each invidivual component).

I used NI Maschine as a MIDI controller to “record” the light parts over Michael Jackson’s Speed Demon in my favorite DAW.

The video might not be very exciting, but in the dark, the colorful lightshow is quite enjoyable.
